Did You Know?
The Problem
How You Can Help
  • Colds account for more visits to a doctor than any other medical condition.  Colds are caused by viruses.  Viruses Do NOT respond to antibiotics.  The average adult gets 2 to 4 colds a year, a child 6 to 8 (American Lung Association).   So, how do you know if you're sick with a viral or bacterial illness.

  • Antibiotics are ONLY effective against bacterial infections.  So, how do you know if you have a bacterial infection?

  • Did you know that doctors only get the diagnosis right 50% of the time when you have a sinusitis? (American Family Physician 2004 Nov1;70(9):1685-1692).

  • So, what is the solution? Use Cold Alert!  A clinical study showed Cold Alert to be 90% accurate.

    What are ColdAlert Tissues

What are ColdAlert Tissues

ColdAlert Tissue is a general wellness, low risk product that is used as part of a healthy lifestyle. ColdAlert Tissue promotes good hygiene to support the monitoring of possible infections and to encourage the timely intervention of a physician or other healthcare professional.

ColdAlert Tissue  is  an easy to use tissue that changes color in response to mucous or saliva.  Clinical studies have linked changes of mucous or saliva to the possibility of a bacterial infection, which may be a condition treatable by a physician or other healthcare professional through medication.

If you are experiencing the common symptoms of a cold (e.g. runny nose, cough, fever, etc) and the ColdAlert Tissue changes color when placed in contact with your mucous or saliva,  you may have an infection and want to consider making an appointment  to see a doctor. This product is drug-free and non-toxic.

How to use ColdAlert Tissues

  1. For best results, use one Tissue  first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking.

  2. You will need one yellow Tissue.  Handle tissue with dry hands.

  3. Simply blow your nose on the Tissue  and then cough up/clear your throat and spit on the same Tissue  in a dry area.

  4. Set the Tissue on the counter and watch for color changes. Changes take less than a minute.

  5. Use each Tissue  once, and discard after use.

  6. Used Tissue  may be discarded in household trash.

What test results mean

  • If the Tissue changes to any color, other than yellow (such as orange, brown, or red), you may want to consider making an appointment to see a doctor or other healthcare professional.  Please note: the red color change is NOT a sign of the presence of blood.

  • If the Tissue shows only a brown spot or streak, you may want to repeat the Tissue in a day or two if your common cold symptoms persist.

  • If the Tissue remains yellow, monitor your cold.   If your cold symptoms continue for several days and you have repeated using the Tissue one or more occasions over several days with the same result of no change in color of the Tissue, you may want to consider making an appointment to see a doctor or other healthcare professional.
